luzia pimpinella | travel brügge | flandern blog award

if you now ask yourself, what i brought as a travel souvenir from the FLEA MARKET in BRUGES… voilà! it is this kinda kitschy raspberry cake stand that i couldn’t resist. and what do you think could look any better on it than homemade belgian waffles with whipped cream and fresh raspberries? right… kinda nothing.

so if you drooling over waffles now, but it#s too bad you don’t live in BELGIUM where you can get some at every corner, just bake’em yourself.

here is my RECIPE for fluffy BELGIAN WAFFLES:

250 g flour
300 ml milk
20 g fresh yeast
50 g sugar
60 g butter
2 eggs
1 package vanilla sugar
pinch of salt
a little oil for the waffle iron
1 cup cream
fresh raspberries

1. melt the butter in a skillet by low temperature. add vanilla sugar and milk and heaten until it’s lukewarm. melt yeast and sugar in the milk and set aside.

2. seperate the egg yolks from egg whites. put the whites in the fridge. put the flour in a bowl, form a swale in the flour and add the egg yolks and the milk mixture into it. stir until you get a smoooth dough. let the dough rise for 45 minutes.

3. whisk the egg whites with a pinch of salt until stiff. mix the whites carefully with the dough and bake your waffles in a waffle iron according to the instructions.

luzia pimpinella | food | rezept belgische waffeln mit himbeeren | recipe belgian waffles with raspberries

4. whip cream until stiff and serve a blot of whipped cream and fresh raspberries on top of the belgian waffles. i think they are best when lukewarm ! enjoy!

it was the other day in BRUGES, when i explored this beautiful town together with lovely fee {FEE IST MEIN NAME} and mel {GOURMETGUERILLA} in many different ways.
we just cuised the canals when we spotted a FLEA MARKET at the DIYVER riverside and it looked quite promising. it was pretty clear that we would find some fragile travel souvenirs there, but we dared to have a closer look anyway. so that was what happened: mel purchased a heavy weight 70s pottery platter from a reputedly well-known belgian artist… and i flew home with a big LEMON PITCHER and another fuity darling that i’m going to show you tomorrow.

todayceramic creatures, knickknack, vintage stuff and antiques are for sale at the place where once druides gathered together for holy rituals. here i found some nice travel presents for my little FRÄULEIN PANDA who had to stay at home. i also found something i had never seen before: an amazing bobbin lace-made city map!

there’s still a story about how bruges, and the STRAFFE HENDRIK in particular, deepend my already existing love for hoppy cold beverages. i tell you about that another day. but actually i would have loved to buy a bunch of beer glasses at this flea market.

luzia pimpinella | travel | bruegge vismarkt - fischmarkt collonaden | bruges fish market

you can find arts and crafts and fish {a crazy mixture, don’t you think?} just around the corner at the collonaded VISMARKT {fish market} built in 1821. oil paintings, pottery, sewed stuff and handmade jewelry are offered here but also freshly caught sea fish. the fish is located at a the backward stands though… assumedly because of the odor nuisance.

the odor nuisance also kept me from bringing some fish home, even if it was the day of our departure and this would have been a perfect dinner. i took something completely different and very pretty back home, that i’m going to show you tomorrow… until then…

travel | 5 wege, brügge mit “plezierchen” zu erkunden

luzia pimpinella | travel | 5 wege, brügge zu erkunden | 5 ways to explore bruges

lovely  fee {FEE IST MEIN NAME}, mel {GOURMETGUERILLA}
und i, aka mrs. pimpi, started off to BRUGES for a blogger-mission lately. our instruction was very simple. we should have “veel plezier” { = good fun}.
well, that wasn’t really too hard to realize! maybe you already stumbled upon fee’s ANALOG LOMO-SPINNER SHOTS to see how easy it was to have a blast {please ignore my dorkish face on all of these pics!}. today i want to take you along with us on our bruges weekend trip to explore this sweet little city with you!

luzia pimpinella | travel | brügge panorama - grote markt | bruges panorama - grote markt

when you are in BRUGES you sooner or later you end up on the GROTE MARKT which is the heart of the city. the BELFRY tower {which i unfortunately cut off in my panorama shot} overtops the whole beautiful screnery. bruges is one of the UNESCO world heritage cities and looking at the amazing medivial architecture, you easily know why. we are intrigued to just sit down at one of the pretty bistros to have a belgian beer and some MOULES & FRITES, watching the carriages go by… but while mel still wonders if she really wants to get up there, fee and i already decided to climb the tower. 83
meters… OK, let’s get this done and take a beer afterwards!

luzia pimpinella | travel | brügge - belfried aussicht| bruges - belfry tower view

clambering up the steps is really worth it, because the view over BRUGES is epic. but you shouldn’t be claustrophobic as the stairs are getting the more narrow the higher you climb {and even more narrow when having contraflow} moreover you shouldn’t be too scary as all of a sudden the chimes might sound very loud. LIKE THIS! i almost got a heart attack! the unimpressed pigeons {who can be considered as professional posers} just laughed at me. if you want to climpb the tower you better go early. it opens up at 10 a.m. and queues can grow very long throughout the day. although i suppose that a sunset over the roofs of bruges can be worth lining up.

luzia pimpinella | travel | brügge - grachtenfaht | bruges - canal boat tour

from top of the belfry we already saw the water… so the next {more relaxed} thing to do is a CANAL BOAT TOUR. there are 5 piers around the city and you walk by just naturally…. you know ways are short to walk here. that is one of the things i spontaneously love about bruges: you can walk everywhere! so we enter a boat and are welcomed by some english saying: “no singing in the back!”. okay, we can have plezier without singing. it’s all right with us…. and we enjoy the canal tour watching the pretty houses go by…

well, sitting in the back of the boat we don’t understand much of the sightseeing information the captain gives us during the tour, but WE enjoy the view and we spot some interesting places to see later. like the gorgeous flea market at the canal side. {at that moment i’m happy that i took the large suitcase for the short weekend trip… it has much of empty space für flea market treasures! ha. }
luzia pimpinella | travel | brügge erkunden - kutschfahrt | explore bruges - horse carriage tour

let’s come back to the starting point of our day… to the GROTE MARKT. it’s also the place where the HORSE CARRIAGES start for a sightseeing tour through bruges. it is so much more romantic to take a carriage ride than to take one of those very ugly city tour busses that really look annoying in midst of the pretty archiectural scenery. the tock tock of the horses on the cobblestones just go better together with the medivial facades.

if you’re lucky you might catch a carriage with a sweet little co-coachman on board. so cute! the ride takes about 30 minutes {without the break at a watering place and some feed for the horses}. it costs 39 euros per carriage and 5 people fit in. you should remember to have cash in your pocket. ATMs are rare in the city and you shouldn’t have to take an extended walk before boarding a carriage. ;)
talking about walking… i said before that BRUGES is perfect to explore by foot. to walk the city really suggests itself. this way you can see every precious place in the course o the day. every architectural treasure that makes japanese and americans faint. so i stop talking now and let the photographs i took along the way do the job…

pretty, huh? it really was such a “plezier” to see bruges…
luzia pimpinella | travel | brügge - fahrrad stadttour | bruges - sightseeing by bike
i admit we skipped another possibility to explore bruges… it’s by BIKE! bruges is a bike-friendly city, if you can cope with the bumpy cobblestones. my personal peoblem is, that i have to stop over and over again to take photographs. seriously not the fastes way to move forward. so i usually prefer to walk. ;) but if you love exploring a city on “fiets”, you can find a pretty nice survey about all bruges BIKE RENTALS here.
what more can i say… it doesn’t matter from which perspective or by which transportation you see BRUGES… you gotta love it anyway! that’s why i will definitely have to come back with mr. P and the fräulein at least one time. or two.

P.S. some people who travel themselves but always wrinkle their noses about tourists might think now… whoa, the girls did the full touri-program. yepp, we did indeed and we had a lot of plezier doing it! i personally think that you first should have seen the whole nine yards before you can start with the alleged super secret insider stuff. eventually all thesights and landmarks have that status, because they are worth being seen and enthuse people. period.

P.P.S. i entered this posting to the FLANDERN BLOG AWARD
2014 by the way and i’ll be very happy about your vote when the time has come! ;)

luzia pimpinela | travel | ein besuch im zoo antwerpen | a day at the antwerp zoo, belgium

today there will be photos and furry noses overload here on the blog. so how about spending a lovely afternoon at the beautiful ANTWERP ZOO? antwerp surely is a city of amazing architecture and the zoo, located right behind the imposing TRAIN STATION, is another inpressing example for it. it was founded in 1843 and is one of the oldest zoos of the world.

i could have spend hours right behind the entrance watching the ado around the pretty nostalgic carousel. i have a soft spot for carousel photography. but my family pushed me to move on. at least we were here so see real animals.

whatever kind of animals a zoo might house… aren’t the suricats the secret stars? everyone stops and watches these cute guys like forever! what it looks and sounds like, when my cute family does a bonanza hippo ride can be watched here in this INSTAGRAM-VIDEO by the way!

i know there are many ambivalent opinions about zoo. i tell you what i think… i believe that zoos do an inportant job when it comes to species conservation. i also think that they bring awareness of the wonders of nature and the need  to protect them to people’s minds.

the elephant house is surely the most remarkable building at the antwerp zoo. it  was built in 1856 based on the archhitecture of an egyptian temple. if you are able to read hieroglyphs, you will understand that the colorful murals praise king léopold I. of belgium.

we ave been to many zoos, but we found some animals here that we had never seen before. the NOCTURAMA, which is a house for nocturnal animals, was totally fascinating. we saw a sloth mama with her sloth baby on the belly brachiating from branch to branch, bizzare nocturnal marsupials, cute flying foxes and an armadillo that moved like running on rails! we could have sit there in the dark and watched them for hours. i didn’t shoot any pics… at least it was pitch-dark night in there on that october afternoon.

there’s rarely a little girl that doesn’t want to become a great fashion designer. at least for a while in her lifetime, even it’s only a short period. i wanted so when i was twelve. and of course my fräulein thinks about it now. maybe being a fashion designer is to a girl like the fireman or the police officer is to a boy….?
luzia pimpinella | travel | antwerpen modemuseum MoMu | antwerp fashion museum MoMu

that’s the reason why i wasn’t surprised that the fräulein wished to visit the MoMu, the fashion museum, when we were on our citytrip in ANTWERP.
she wanted to get inspired! ;)
and what a lovely coincidence that they just had an exhibition in honor of the 50 years birthday of the fashion department at antwerp’s royal academy of fine arts [which is still open]. so she was able to kinda retracing some great steps of the most popular graduates of the fashion academy…

the first designs made her giggle though… aha, that is more art than fashion! nobody will ever wear that in the street! first lesson of a future couturier learned: when studying fashion, wearybility is second-rank.

i was fascinated by the graduate projects themed ARCADIA of different generations of students. the designs pick up elements of nature and one could get lost in all the details of the designs.

luzie was especially smitten by the chunky woolen gown [oh my, if you get into the rain with that!] and the skirt with the neoprene bows.

i could have studied the big wall with countless fashion graphics and sketches for hours. in the past i was always wishing i could draw people so perfectly. i especially loved some of the artworks by veronique branquinho. they reminded me of one of my favorite artists: otto dix.

travel | zaterdagmarkt in antwerpen

well, actually i planned to travel a little more far away with you today. because my mom, my sister and my brother in law just spent some time in NYC and miami. that made me browse through my photo archive and sweet memories. but then… i completey frittered away my time, searching for the right pics.
so instead of taking you to NEW YORK, i once again take you to pretty ANTWERP for a walk across the ZATERDAGMARKT on a saturday. .

i really love farmers markets! what about you? where ever we travel to i always must visit at least one. i watch, i taste, i soak up the colors and the flavors. delicious!

although i definitely prefer not to cook in our holidays, but to go for restaurants [not to have to stand at the stove is one of my personal vacation principles], there’s always a little regret of not having a kitchen in our hotel room. look at all this freshness!

and is it only in my imagination or is it true that the belgians [and also the dutch] always have the most gorgeous variety of flowers on their markets?

the fresh waffles alone are worth visiting the market. admittedly these were the very first fresh made ones we had and they came in yummy tastes with cranberries, apple, cinnamon, walnuts and chocolate chips! all other waffles we had that week were disappointing as they were pre-baked and just re-heated then. these were freshly made in front of our eyes and amazing!

if you like to visit the ZATERDAGMARKT yourself… it’s located at theaterplein [partly under a glass canopy] on saturdays from 8:00 a.m. till 4:00 p.m.
on sundays you will find the VOGELENMARKT [bird market] at the same location but expanding all the way to oudevaatplaats. the history of that market goes back to the 16th century, when it was a poultry market. although nowadays the vendors sell food and other stuff, like they do on a farmers market, you are supposed to finde some market stalls selling birds as well. unfortunately i have no proof, because on our sunday it was raining cats and dogs. not only the visitors preferred to stay at home, but also most of the vendors stayed away.
have you ever been on the vogelenmarket? is it true that they still sell birds there? i’m curious to know…

it’s so weird that i outed myself [among other cenfessions] to be a total NON-chocoholic lately and then inconsequently travel to the world’s capital of chocolate… to BELGIUM! well, to say that i don’t like to eat chocolate doesn’t mean i’m not interested in the art of chocolate making. i can be really amazed by the work of chocolatiers without having to eat up the stunning results.

but first of all i was even more stunned by the interior than by the chocolate creations when i entered THE CHOCOLATE LINE
chocolaterie in ANTWERP. [this place is so awe-inspiring you can’t even call it chocolate shop]. i was so fascinated by the splendiferous paintings on the walls and ceilings that a didn’t even notice that the counters were huge bars of chocolate. i noticed back at home when i was browsing the photos from our city trip. these rooms were just breathtaking.

the chocolate line is located in the heart of antwerp in the PALAIS OP DE MEIR, a town palace built in the 18th century. it once was the residence of NAPOLEON [yes, the bust on the photo is made from chocolate] and also of the royals of orange. nowadays chocolatier
DOMINIQUE PERSOONE is sovereign of two salons and the kitchen in the right wing of the palais.

he’s like the enfant terrible of all chocolatier masters and calls himself shock-o-latier. maybe it’s only natural when you invent outrageous creations like chocolate with eel-flavor to surprise your audience or a gadget to shoot chocolate powder into your nose for the ROLLING STONES [doubtlessly the least dangerous drug the stone’s noses ever had to cope with].

when i walked into the kitchen the strong smell of chocolate in the air almost knocked me off my socks. whowza. surely for some people this place might be like land of milk and honey chocolate heaven with creamy chocolate flowing out of a tab the whole day long. i was wondering if the chololatiers would have ever any chocolate treat at home or would better prefer salty and svoury goodies instead. bummer i missed to ask them. but i enjoyed watching them at work. no need to tell that i was all smitten by the huge BARBAPAPA family made of chocolate, huh?

you probably won’t believe me if i say i didn’t have a tiny piece of chocolate, but it’s true. i’m as weird as that. but we purchased a lot of it as a gift for our lovelies at home. after all you bring chocolate as a souvenit, when travelling to beglium! of couse you do! and the presentees were all happy about that! of course they were!

and what about you? would you end up in a chocolate rush or would you prefer nibbling potato chips on your hotel room?

the SINT ANDRIES area probably is to ANTWERP what is BROOKLYN to NEW YORK
once one of the poorest neighborhoods it turned into a hipster corner with cool design shops, quirky vintage stores as well as poular restaurants and cafés. especially the KLOOSERSTRAAT is the place to be. today i’ll take there for a little shopping walk.

i was all smitten by the antique store BLUE FONZ
[kloosterstraat 12]. i swooned over two cognac brown chesterfield sofas, awesome maps, many globes and the chrome stools. unfortunately our travel budget said no to any of these lovely items. so i pruchased something small and completely different: an american college pennant of the city of PROVINCETOWN, cape cod,
massachusetts, were we spent some days on our NEW ENGLAND roadtrip this summer. mr. P. thought i was crazy to pick this in antwerp, but i can live with that.

if you go to the kloosterstraat with the intention to buy something and not just so go window shopping it’s really helpful to know, that many shops are closed monday till wednesday. or they do have some own, unconventional kind of opening hours. it might also happen, that you end up in front of a shop door, being there at opening hours, having all the vintag stuff tanding on the sidewalk for sale and it’s still closed. eventually a little note at the door says “i’m off for lunch!” [or for whatsoever]. so pepare to bring some time… hurrying will do no good at kloosterstraat. relax!

there are many nice places to stop by if you get hungry and thirsty strolling along kloosterstraat by the way. i already recommended the CHEZ FRED and also the WASBAR in my  ANTWERP RESTAURANT TIPS, maybe you remember?

if vintage is not enough and you need more antique and nostalgic pieces, TANTE BROCANTE [kloosterstraat 53] might be your place of favor. there are many glass items, crystal chandeliers, holy figurines, antlers, old memorabilia… and vintage suitcases! the smell of centuries long gone is literally in the air…. not my personal style and taste but yet so pretty and interesting.

was hättet ihr in diesen läden angeschmachtet?
well, you probably don’t know that i am a biologist at heart. this said you might understand that i really wanted to have that human torso in the window up there. or at least one of the mannequin hands! the fräulein thought that would be gross, she’s a bit squeamish when it comes to stuff like that. alas, but both shops were always closed, when we walked by. what a bummer! [or luck, that’s what the little one says!]. so we had to go back home without any artificial body parts.
what would you have craved for in these shops?

* der BAHNHOF | the TRAIN STATION

if you catch sight of the station ANTWERPEN CENTRAAL you probably regret instantly that you didn’t arrive by train. it is surely the most beautiful railway station in whole europe. i claim this without having really seen all the others, but it is just so adorable. the litte fräulein said it looks like a king’s castle and she’s right. inside not only the architecture is impressing but also the fact that the trains arrive and depart from multiple levels. well, i’ll probably have to travel by train next time i visit the city.

* GROTE MARKT

this place really isn’t short of monumental architecture. the heart of antwerp, the GROTE MARKT,
is almost bursting with spectacular architecture. the heroic hand throwing guy on the central fountain is said to be the founder of antwerp, SILVIUS BRABO. a legend says that he saved the town from an evil giant and destruction by cutting off his hand and throwing it into
the SCHELDT river. allegedly this act gave anwerp it’s name. anwerpen = (h)ant-werpen = throwing hand.

* MAS

when i read about the MAS [the MUSEUM AAN DEN STROOM] i was really surprised, that it is still young. it opened in 2011. yet for me it was already the landmark i was thinking of when thinking about antwerp. the building ist so very beautiful with its red stone, wave shaped windows and the silver colored hands [love this detail!] on it’s facade. to walk the 10 sun-flooded gallery levels and enjoying the view is stunning. it’s always possible to go up there even if you don’t want to visit one of the exibits of the building. entrance is free of charge for the gallery walk up to the rooftop, where you have an amazing view over antwerp and the scheldt river. see the building over there, that looks like some kind of archaic spiked animal? that’s antwerp LAW COURTS. i loved to have a closer look, but we didn’t find a way to put it into our itineary. [well, you already know my saying… i’ll have to come back for that!]

a little note: the MAS is closed on mondays. all other days its open 9:30 am – 11:30 pm. next time i definitely want to see the antwerp sunset from the rooftop!

* das SCHELDE-UFER | the SCHELDT riverside

i think that every city located at a river [or even having canals] has some extra brownie points. for example i couldn’t think of HAMBURG so beautiful without the elbe and the alster. so of course we made a walk at antwerp’s SCHELDT riverside. we walked by the ZUIDER and the NOORDER TERRAS [where you can stop to have a coffee at the cafés] and through HET STEEN. we walked by one of the well-known booth for having belgian fries, called the FRITUUR T’STEEN. talking about belgian fries – of course we had to try world famous frietjes! but seriously…i couldn’t find anything special in their taste, although i am no spurner of fries.

SINT ANNA TUNNEL  | the SINT ANNA TUNNEL

the SINT ANNATUNNEL probably is the most unusual sight in antwerp. alike the old ELBE TUNNEL in hamburg it leads to the other side of the scheldt river. to walk this pedestrian tunnel is kind of surreal for sure. it’s amazing going down on several levels using the authentic escalator from 1933. after a 10 minutes walk through the tunnel you reach the other side of the river go up the spectacular escalators to see daylight again.

from this side you have a lovely view onto the antwerp “skyline”. i wasn’t able to find out about the huge wooden robot that is installed at the waterfront. do you know anything more about it?
i hope you enjoyed this virtual walk. i don’t know what i’ll coming up with next time. there is still so much to tell about ANTWERP… so stay tuned.
TRAVEL

one thing quickly became clear at the very first afternoon of our ANTWERP trip – we probably wouldn’t starve here. the city at the schelde river is really packed with awesome coffee places, bars and restaurants…
luzia pimpinella | reise antwerpen: restaurant tipp wagamama | travel antwerp: eating out wagamama

after our first orienteering stroll we ended up at a well known and very appreciated noodle place though. our stomachs were growling and we wanted to play safe, so we had dinner at WAGAMAMA [the fact that we don’t have any wagamamas at germany is a shame by the way!]. many years ago we ate out at one of these noodle restaurants in london and we loved it. moreover i do love RAMEN soups very much! and i shouldnt’t be dissapointed… we enjoyed yummy soup, spricy [very spicy!] chicken and green curry and browsed through our antwerp guide to make plans for the next day. it was the small, but very awesome  wallpaper* CITY GUIDE ANTWERP [in english language]. i can really recommend it’s stylish selection of tips around the city.

luzia pimpinella | reise antwerpen: café tipp fabiola| travel antwerp: coffee & snacks at fabiola

the next day luzie spotted a lovely small coffee bar on our way to the fashion museum [MOMU] and we went there for a little rest after visiting the museum. the krokbar FABIOLA is a distinctive place of adorment for the belgian queen fabiola [1960-1993 in exalted position]. the queen souvenir collection, as well as the large patterned wallpaper and vintage furnishing gives this café an adorable quirky touch.

luzia pimpinella | reise antwerpen: café tipp fabiola| travel antwerp: coffee & snacks at fabiola

again we studied a travel guide we purchased before just around the corner at a book store. this book *the 500 hidden secrets of ANTWERP [also in english language] happened to be a real gem. i instantly wondered if we would ever make it for some additional day trips to brussels, bruges or gent. actually we didn’t! i must admit at that point i still underrated the potential of antwerp. this travel book helped me to get this in the right focus… as the city really has so much to offer. it’s totally worth reading!
well, after having coffee and croques [they also have cake!], we went on exploring. ah… the bill came in a vintage tin box displaying the royal couple… what else could it come in?

luzia pimpinella | reise antwerpen: fisch essen in der fiskebar | travel antwerp: eating out fish at fiskebar

when i asked for some antwerp tips here on the BLOG lately, the FISKEBAR was mentioned several times. for a good reason as i know now… the design fish restaurant is very cool and in an reduced skandinavian style [i love how the tiles go together with the wooden chairs!] and the fish is fresh to the max!

the eatery is very popular and you better have a reservation, even on weekdays. there was this adorable young very young man at on the counter winking and flirting at luzie all the time. she was laughing so much that she hardly could concentrate on her fish dinner…

on the day after we followed the advice of RICARDA [23qm stil] and had a reservation at CHEZ FRED. walking the neigborhood it became clear why ricarda loves the kloosterstraat so much, i’ll tell you later about that. making a reservation for this restaurant is a good idea. the small bar ist jam-packed with people and it’s a good place to “eat like locals”. you shouldn’t be irritated by the durex neon outside at the house though… ;)

the menue offers pasta, meat- and fish-dishes… unfortunaley my linguine alle vongole were a little lame. but the rest was quite good and in return i was able to add another word on my personal list of favorite dutch words after studying the menue. pijnboompitten! i really love this funny language!

if you walk the kloosterstraat all the way down and beyond, you will inevitably get to the WASBAR…it’s a cool combo of coffee bar and laundromat in pastel colors! a perfect place to stop by and have a break for a coffee and a snack.

mister P.’s cappuccino came with wee marshmallows in top, so cute. the shelves at the walls were made from vintage drawers and the awesome lampshades from colored wire hangers. we three were all enthusiastic about the interior wnd were thinking about some fall makeover at home.

luzia pimpinella | reise antwerpen: restaurant tipp - burgerij | travel antwerp: eating out at burgerij

i stumbled about the restaurant name BURGERIJ in some travel guide, yet i spotted it viewing from the gallery walk of the MAS! it’s an open secret that we love eating burgers, so its was perfectly clear that we had to have dinner at this place.

seriously… any more questions? the burgers were delicious!!! the restaurant is a good place to visit with children by the way. they have a seperated, vitrified playing area for kids. so you can sit at your table having an eye on your kiddos whithoud having all that noise around. mom and dad can enjoy a relaxed conversation, nice huh? not that we would need that anymore for our fräulein… but maybe it’s interesting for you and your toddlers!?

luzia pimpinella | reise antwerpen: asia restaurant tipp - lucy chang | travel antwerp: eating out asian at lucy chang

the last evening [boo-hoo] we spent at LUCY CHANG dining spring rolls, dim sum and thai curry. i recommend a reservation for this restaurant. especially because the tables are placed very differnt… i really liked the tables on the ground floor, they had huge upholstered benches. i also liked the small tables on the upper, third floor beneath the windows with a great view on the marnixplaats.
[LUCY CHANG – marnixplaats 16 – antwerpen]
honestly, we could really have spent weeks eating our way through antwerp. but even the lovliest city trip is over at some point. like i often say… well, we probably have to come back again! i’ll soon tell you more about our sightseeing and what else we did in antwerp, besides eating. stay tuned…
