i came across some information about the TIMES HOTEL via sandra’s blog HERZENSART and we really liked it a lot… thank you, sandra! :)

the hotel has a nice young and modern interior. the rooms are mostly small but cozy. if you open your eyes in the morning your first sight are giant canvas prints of the old dutch masters as wallpaper… unfortunately i missed to take morre pictures, but maybe you like to browse through the PHOTO GALLERY of their homepage to see more.

i took this shot on the first few minutes in our room… she obviously loved it…

… we all were  enthusiastic about the view from our window (do you see luzie and stephan in there?), right above the entrance and the breakfast area. we had an awesome direct view onto the HERENGRACHT that made us go yay and we love the location of the hotel wich is very central!

so we were able to practice some typical dutch ” living in public” as people passing by on the sightseeing boat used to wave hello to us. dutch people are very open minded and do use not to hide their living spaces from the view of strangers. they rarely use drapes or blinds. so it’s easy to peep into peoples homes to see their interior and to see the owners themselves… cooking, playing, watching TV, whatever. i like that because dutch homes  have some amazing cool and tasteful furnishing quite often.

amsterdam is a smaller metropole and you can easily explore it by foot. but if you have a foot-lame and tired day, you can also buy a “strippenkarte” for the TRAM which can be used very flexible. find more information about amsterdam’s public transportation HERE HERE and HERE for example.

finding a PARKING space in amsterdam is crazy and nearly impossible, most of all it’s freakin’ EXPENSIVE! so ve really appreciated the tipp of ines to park the car outside the city limits ta save much money…. and we did… many THANKS again! :)

you can save your money by using amsterdam’s PARK & RIDE system which is provied all around outside the city limits, we parked our car at the parking lot of the AJAX amsterdam football stadium (transferium ArenA). don’t let youself be scared off by the daily parking fees dislpayed at the entrance… walk with your parking ticket to the P&R booth inside the parking lot and they will get a new coding! after the re-coding the paking will be charged at 6,00 euros per day for max. 4 days of parking. (EDIT: please note that prices may have changes during the years so that my statement here isn’t correct anymore. so you better check the actual fees). 4 days were perfect for us. if you want to stay longer, you have the possibility to exit and park again! ;)

enclosed with the park ticket (put it aside carefully and don’t loose it while on your city trip)  you will receive tickets for a ride into town and back via bus or metro! that’s quite a nice service, huh? i really can recommend to use it, because parking in the city can cost up to 40,00 euros a day! it’s no problem to explore amsterdam by foot and you surely find some better things to do with your money.
…fortsetzung folgt…

… to be continued…

    Tausend Dank!!!!
