dieses buch ist eines meiner allerersten bücher. ein stück meiner kindheit. es steht immer noch in meinem bücherregal. die kleine hexe, der kleine wassermann und der räuber hotzenplotz haben mich ein stück weit begleitet und ich liebe sie immer noch. mach’s gut, otfried preußler… danke, das du unsere fantasie und auch die unserer kinder beflügelt hast.
this book is one of my very first i ever had. a piece of my childhood. it’s still standing on my bookshelf. the little witch, the little water sprite and the robber hotzenplotz accompanied me as a child and i still love them. farewell, otfried preußler… thank you for firing imagination of us as well as of our children.

als ich das buch von KATE SPADE vor wochen schon vorbestellte, ahnte ich, ich würde schockverliebt sein, wenn es endlich da ist! recht hatte ich.
i knew i would fall in love with the book by KATE SPADE when i pre-ordered it weeks ago. it’s finally out now! and yes… i was so right.

ich hatte noch gar nicht hinein geblättert, da war ich schon verknallt. ein einband in neon-pink und gold? damit kann man mich ja gleich kriegen.
i was all smitten, before i even browsed through the pages. a hardcover in neon pink and gold? you really had me from the first moment.

live colorfully… ist ein motto, dass ich aus ganzen herzen unterschreiben kann. also ist es wohl das perfekte coffetable buch für mich. ein echter farbrausch und augenschmaus. worum es geht? um alles und nichts… um farbe und lebensfreude… um dinge die wir lieben, eben… um INSPIRATION. einen riesenspaß habe ich nicht nur an diesem bunten bilderbuch, sondern auch an der brandneuen kurzfilm-app VINE. dies ist mein allererstes filmchen! tadaaa…! 6 sekunden ist so verdammt kurz, ich werde da noch etwas an der technik feilen müssen. aber egal…. was ein SPASS!
well, not this colorful book brings loads of fun but also the brandnew filmlet-app VINE. this is my very first one! tadaaa…! 6 seconds are quite short. i guess i’ll have to work on my filming skills. but anyway… what FUN!

der stapel magazine in der schlafzimmerecke war schon lebensbedrohlich hoch. höchste zeit, die zeitschriften nochmal durchzublättern und zu schauen, was ich wirklich aufheben möchte!
inspired! the pile of living magazines in the nook of our bedroom reached life-threatening height. high time to browse through them and see what i really want to tear out and keep.

das kleine fräulein war auch mit feuereifer bei der sache, denn schnippeln ist eine ihrer lieblingsbeschäftigungen, und so saßen wir den ganzen nachmittag und rissen und schnitten magazinseiten heraus. ich war vor allem auf leckere rezepte und städtereise-tipps aus und luzie suchte nach bunten wohnträumen und blumenbildern. außerdem mussten auch noch ihre comics dran glauben. frühjahrputz in der papierabteilung könnte man so sagen.
the litte fräulein was eager to join and so we teared and cut magazine pages the whole afternoon. i looked for yummy recipes and interesting travel tips and luzie went for colorful pictures of inspirational spaces and such. in addition she started to sort out her own comics. it was like spring cleaning in the paper departement of our house.

inspiriert von dem zauberhaften moodboard über holly beckers studio sofa (ihr könnt es auch zum teil hier in foto #5 sehen) sollte später eine collage im fräulein zimmer entstehen.

heute wurde dann geklebt… mit washi tape und direkt über dem bett. wenn das mal keine bunten träume gibt!? 
today we fixed the tear sheets on the wall… using washi tape and just above the bed. i suppose this will cause quite colorful dreams!?

dem fräulein gefällt es sehr… und mir auch. ich würde glatt ins zimmer meiner tochter einziehen, wenn man dort nicht ständig (und sehr schmerzhaft) auf legos treten würde. 
the fräulein loves it… and so do i. i could move right in my daughters space if there wasn’t this permanent (and quite painful) danger of stepping on legos.

wenn ihr auch schon wieder hummeln im hintern habt, wass die umgestaltung eurer vier wände angeht (die hummeln kommen bei mir immer, sobald der ganze weihnachtskram wieder in den kisten verschwunden ist), dann kann ich euch übrigens hollys buch DECORATE WORKSHOP ans herz legen. eine echte inpiration! und ich freue mich immer noch wie bolle, dass ich es in meinem unglaublichen goodie bag hatte. danke nochmal…xo!

heute beim durchblättern der neusten ausgabe der LIVING at HOME… aaah! das kunstwerk da an der wand kenne ich doch! meine freundin sonni hat auch schon mal das “mädchen mit dem perlenohrring” in ihrem zuhause gehämmert und hat sogar hier darüber gastgebloggt…

when i was browsing the latest newest issue of the LIVING at HOME magazine today… aaah! see the artwork on that wall? my BFF sonni created the “girl wit a pearl earring” at her home earlier this year and even wrote a guest post on my blog about it… 

… und eine seite weiter… oooh! so sah unser peppermann auch mal aus, als er noch klein war. ich bin überhaupt ganz angezuckert von dem heft dieses mal. hach.
… and on the next page that little kitty… oooh! looks so much like our pepperman when he was a baby. i really love this magazin issue. just sayin’…

bücher gehen immer!

bücher gehen immer… das wird auch mal wieder deutlich, wenn ich die unzähligen kommentare [über 150 wow, danke!!! ihr seid unglaublich!!!] durchlese, die auf das MÄNNERGESCHENKE-posting hin von euch kamen. ich bekam sogar per mail einen tipp von einem mann, der sich nicht recht traute, einen kommentar in dieser frauenrunde abzugeben! denmöchte ich ihn euch natürlich  nicht vorenthalten. offensichtlich ist er ein großer fußballfan, denn er schwärmt für FUSSBALL-WUNDER-BAUTEN: die schönsten stadien und ihre geschichten. ein echter expertentipp. danke! ;)
von mir gibt es heute auch eine tonne büchertipps zum verschenken und selbstbehalten [ich gestehe ich behalte viele einfach selbst!]. denn, wie gesagt, bücher gehen immer und außerdem sind sie das perfekte last minute weihnachtsgeschenk. also, keine zeit verlieren, los geht’s…
books are always a lovely gift… i know that and i see that you know that too, when i read all your countless comments [over 150 comments! thank you so much ladies, you are the best!] on my MÄNNERGESCHENKE-posting. i even received a tip via e-mail from a man. he didn’t dare to comment on the blog among all you women. but i surely don’t want to keep the tip of an expert and soccer-fan from you, girls. here it is: FUSSBALL-WUNDER-BAUT – a book about the most amazing soccer arenas and their stories [unfortunately in german language only].
i also have bunch of book recommendations for you today. these are books to give away and to keep yourself [i must admit i keep a lot of them for myself], because books are always a good idea and moreover they are the perfect last minute christmas gift. so here we go…

… paris ist immer eine gute idee, das wusste schon audrey hepburn… und wir wissen es auch nach dem durchblättern dieses wunderschönen, klassischen coffee table books.

… die charmante britin rachel khoo erobert paris mit ihrer frischen, unkonventionellen interpretation französischer küche. mit fotos des genialen food-fotografen david loftus und mit kleinen liebenswerten anekdoten und illustrationen der autorin gespickt, ist das buch ein schmaus für alle sinne.

… noch ein kleiner fotoband… blättern in purer, fotografischer paris nostalgie… einfach schön! dieses büchlein habe ich mir übrigens tatsächlich in paris gekauft.

…wer, wie wir,  noch nicht weiß, wo es 2013 hingehen soll, der findet in diesem kleinen, kompakten  [englischsprachigen, aber das ist für globetrotter ja kein problem] reisebuch die TOP 10 [in länder, regionen und cities] des kommenden jahres. dazu eine TOP TRAVEL LIST mit ganz speziellen und unkonventionellen tipps, wie “best place to get a tattoo” oder “oddest food museums”. ein wirklich tolles, kleines geschenk für alle reiseverrückten.

… 200 städteportraits erwarten einen in diesem unglaublichen buch [in englisch]…. was ist typisch für diese stadt, was muss man gesehen, getan, gegessen, getrunken haben… getoppt von einem kleinen “urbanen mythos” der jeweiligen city und tollen fotos. ich liebe dieses buch.

GREAT JOURNEYS: travel the world’s most spectacular routes

… die spektakulärsten reiserouten dieser welt… in diesem buch [in englisch] sind sie alle verreint. sei es eine tour auf der legendären ROUTE 66, eine fahrt mit dem ORIENT EXPRESS, eine reise entlang der CHINESISCHEN MAUER oder andere der insgesamt 70 reiserouten. einiges davon steht definitiv noch auf meiner bucket list. bis es soweit ist, schwelge ich in fotos und geschichten in diesem schmöker.
… the most spectacular travel routes of the world… this book shows them all! driving the legendary ROUTE 66, travelling on the ORIENT EXPRESS or a journey along the CHINESE WALL are just a few of the 70 routes. some of them are on my bucket list… until then i keep browsing this beautiful book.

 

nebenbei bemerkt wir sind übrigens ganz große fans der LONELY PLANET reiseführer und auch den homepage. sie sind ausführlich und gut recherchiert und ganz oft schon haben wir auf unseren reisen von den “geheimtipps” profitiert.
just to mention it… my family and i are big fans of the LONELY PLANET travel guides and also their webpage. for us they are the best, perfectly researched and with good insider tips.

i’m leaving today…

ihr lieben, ich verabschiede mich heute für ein paar tage. wenn meine vorbereitung soweit kappt, dann läuft hier im blog alles fluffig und bunt wie immer und, keine sorge… auch BEAUTY IS WHERE YOU FIND IT wird wie gewohnt stattfinden. sogar neue themen für den NOVEMBER habe ich euch schon ausgebrütet! ich werde sicherlich ab und zu online sein, aber ich bitte euch um verständnis, dass ich in den nächsten tagen nur ganz obermegadringliche mails zur abwendung von akut lebensbedrohlichen situationen zeitnah beantworte. ;) ansonsten bin ich ein bisschen OFF. allerdings hoffe ich, ich bekomme mein eiFon da drüben so getuned, so dass ich mein INSTAGRAM unterwegs ein bisschen mit fotos füttern kann. also, vielleicht sehen wir uns ja dort mal!? habt eine schöne zeit bis dahin!
dear lovelies, i leave for a few days. the blog is prepared and will (hopefully) run smoothly as usual. no worries, because our BEAUTY IS WHERE YOU FIND IT project will take place as normal! i’ll even come up with new challenges for NOVEMBER. i ask for your understanding though, that meanwhile i will reply to tremendously urgent e-mails in case of life-threatening and most scaring situations only. ;) apart from that i’ll be OFF most of the time. the only thing i’ll try to run actively is my INSTAGRAM. i hope i’ll manage to get my phone set up to post some pics from “over there”… well, let’s see. have a great time, everyone! 
P.S. im hintergrund seht ihr übrigens eine meiner persönlichen lieblingsfotografien… YOUNG DANCER von JOEL MEYEROWITZ von 1978. das original steht in irgendeiner galerie irgendwo zum verkauf… ein traum. aber da ich mir das nicht leisten kann, begnüge ich mich mit einer abbildung in meinem liebsten NEW YORK bildband.

the original is avaiable in a some galerie somewhere… a dream. but as long as i can’t afford that, i look at it in my favorite NEW YORK coffee table book.
