my dear GUEST today: amalie from AMALIE LOVES DANMARK. you can easily tell by her blog name what it is all about. so it’s no wonder she takes us to lovely danmark today. we’re going to see beautiful COPENHAGEN and even have some sweet speciality.

Wonderful Copenhagen And Delicious Cupcapkes

Like Nic, we can take trip as well – right in front of the computer screen. Would you like to join me for a city trip to Copenhagen, or more precisely to Christianhavn? A lively and trendy district of Copenhagen, just a few metro stops away from downtown, surrounded by water and crossed by canals.

If it reminds you of Amsterdam, you are on the right track as Dutch architects and city planners helped building Copenhagen in the 17th century.  Despite the many canals, there is hardly enough mooring for all boats. Yet sitting by the water and watching the buzz is great fun and puts you in a good mood.

And then there is the free state of Christiania – since the 70s this state-tolerated community stands for an alternative way of life. Interestingly with almost as many visitors as Tivoli amusement park. And in contrast, Christianshavn also features the world-famous restaurant NOMA as well as the Copenhagen Opera.

You think this variety is nothing without a few shopping tips? I can only agree:

If you go for colors, you will enjoy Pang Christianshavn: colors for women, kids and your home by Mads  Nørrgard, BECKSÖNDERGAARD, Rie Elise Larsen and also RICE. At the Yo-Yo-Second-Hand-Store in Skt. Annæ Gade 31, there is classy second hand fashion, possibly worn by Helena Christensen as her mother owns the store. Not quite in Christianshavn, but also lovely: the store of BRINJA KØBENHAVN. Fashion and clothes with style. You are not likely to leave the store with empty bags.

With more time and a car at hand, drive the road ahead to the Copenhagen flea market „DEN BLÅ HAL“. There is a retro flea market each weekend from 10 am to 4 pm on an area of 2000 square meters. So, if you collect old coffee pots or Scandinavian design, you can try your luck and dig for hidden treasures.

Sounds good but doesn’t fit in your itinerary? But you’d still like to try the Danish way of life? Then I can offer some tasty licorice cupcakes sizzling in your mouth and leaving a delicious licorice flavor.

Ingredients:
2 eggs
200g sugar
some vanilla essence
a pinch of salt
200g flour
2 tea spoons of baking soda
150 ml milk
2-3 table spoons of licorice powder
Frosting:
120g butter
250g powdered sugar
175g cream cheese
2-3 table spoons of licorice powder
Blend butter and sugar until foamy. Add eggs, salt and vanilla essence, followed by flour and baking soda. Add a splash of milk one by one and stir to a smooth dough. Fill up cups by 2/3 and bake at 175 degrees Celsius for 25 minutes.

Licorice Frosting:
Slowly blend butter (at room temperature) and powdered sugar. Add desired amount of licorice powder and quickly mix in the cream cheese. Let the cupcakes cool down, decorate them with the frosting and add some licorice powder on top.
