citytrip to BARCELONA to honor our anniversary. it was a kind of “silver wedding” journey, somehow. ;) our pretty much “younger us” met in 1990 at a beach in croatia – while traveling. one more reason to celebrate these 25th anniversary with a short trip, right!? so we stayed at the awesome
PRAKTIK GARDEN hotel… and it’s my hotel tip for today.

EIXAMPLE im herzen barcelonas ist genau, wie ich es mag. mittendrin statt nur dabei! schon vor der tür wurden wir von kübelpflanzen begrüßt und die wand hinter der rezeption hatte es mir sofort angetan. sie besteht nämlich aus {echten} übereinander gestapelten büchern. sehr cool. unser doppelzimmer war relativ minimalistisch eingerichtet, dafür war aber die grandiose dachterrasse im 1. stock üppig grün, wie es sich für einen “garden” gehört.
the PRAKTIK GARDEN is located in the EIXAMPLE quarter right in the heart of barcelona. green plants in front of the door welcomed us when we arrived. plus i instantly fell in love with the book wall behind the front desk. ít was made out of stacked {real} books and looked absolutely cool. our double room was kinda minimalist, but very pretty. the rooftop garden terrace on the 1st floor was lush green with plants, like a “garden” should be.
die grüne terrasse lud wirklich zu jeder tageszeit zum chillen ein. wir hatten dort unseren morgenkaffee bevor wir auf tour gingen und legten auch am nachmittag mal für ein viertelstündchen die plattgelaufenen füße hoch … oder abends mit einem letzten bierchen des tages. wir liebten diese grüne oase! ich denke, dass ich nicht erwähnen muss, wie begeistert ich von dem großen “tropical leaf” sofa im wintergarten und der blätter-tapete im fahrstul war, oder? das perfekte hotel für

the green terrace was the perfect place to chill out any time. we really enjoyed our morning coffee there before we started off for the day. we also had some relaxing “feet up” stops there in the afternoon or a last beer at night. we loved that green oasis! not to mention my enthusiasm about the large “tropical leaf”
sofa in the sunroom and the foilage wallpaper in the elevator. what a perfect hotel for

frühstück bietet das PRAKTIK GARDEN hotel leider nicht, aber einen richtig guten morgentlichen kaffee, den man sich in der lounge selbst zubereiten kann. gleich um die ecke findet man zwei bäckereien, in denen man sich ganz easy mit etwas süßem frühstücksgebäck eindecken kann. da sonni zu den frühaufstehern gehört und ich mit meinen langen haaren morgens sowieso immer ein bisschen länger brauchte, besorgte sie einfach etwas zum frühstück und saß immer schon mit kaffee und bäckereitüte auf der terrase, wenn ich herunter kam.
the PRAKTIK GARDEN hotel does not offer breakfast, but that wasn’t too bad. they do have a really good morning coffee to make yourself at the lounge. plus you can easily pick up some breakfast pastry just around the corner at one of the two bakery stores. well, as sonni is more of a morning person like me and i always need some extra time for my long hair, she adopted the bakery job. once i came down to the terrace, she already sat there with a coffee and some breakfast pastry.
ihr findet die bäckerei direkt an der metro-station GIRONA, nur zwei minuten vom hotel entfernt. unser favorit zum frühstück waren die fluffigen FARTONS, ein typisches spanisches hefegebäck. die sollten unsere täglichen begleiter werden.
the bakery i told you about is right next to the GIRONA metro station, just a 2 minutes walk from the hotel. our breakfast favorites were the fluffy FARTONS, a typical spanish pastry. they became our daily treat.

wir am ersten abend ankamen hatten wir übrigens keine große energie
mehr für einer erste restaurantsuche. also fragten wir einfach nach
einem restauranttipp an unserer hotel rezeption und landeten {ebenfalls
praktischerweise gleich um die ecke} in der
CAFÉ-BAR REÑÉ. ein traditionsladen mit großartigem essen.
when we arrived the first day in the evening we didn’t feel like going on a long search for the perfect dinner place. so we simply asked the lady at the front desk of our hotel for her personal restaurant recommendation. she sent us to check out the
CAFÉ-BAR REÑÉ {also conveniently located just around the corner}. it was a traditional place with absolutely delicious food.
wir hatten eine ganze auswahl von kulinarischen vorzüglichkeiten und starteten happy in unseren ersten abend in BARCELONA. was sonni & ich sonst noch so in unserem “kleinem verlängerten sommer” unternommen haben, erzähle ich euch dann demnächst… habt alle ein schönes spätsommer-wochenende!
we went for a selection of culinary goodness and happily started off into our first night in BARCELONA. sonni & i had a real good time and extended summer just perfectly… i’ll tell you about our experiences another time. for now have a great late summer weekend, y’all!
