one thing quickly became clear at the very first afternoon of our ANTWERP trip – we probably wouldn’t starve here. the city at the schelde river is really packed with awesome coffee places, bars and restaurants…
luzia pimpinella | reise antwerpen: restaurant tipp wagamama | travel antwerp: eating out wagamama

after our first orienteering stroll we ended up at a well known and very appreciated noodle place though. our stomachs were growling and we wanted to play safe, so we had dinner at WAGAMAMA [the fact that we don’t have any wagamamas at germany is a shame by the way!]. many years ago we ate out at one of these noodle restaurants in london and we loved it. moreover i do love RAMEN soups very much! and i shouldnt’t be dissapointed… we enjoyed yummy soup, spricy [very spicy!] chicken and green curry and browsed through our antwerp guide to make plans for the next day. it was the small, but very awesome  wallpaper* CITY GUIDE ANTWERP [in english language]. i can really recommend it’s stylish selection of tips around the city.

luzia pimpinella | reise antwerpen: café tipp fabiola| travel antwerp: coffee & snacks at fabiola

the next day luzie spotted a lovely small coffee bar on our way to the fashion museum [MOMU] and we went there for a little rest after visiting the museum. the krokbar FABIOLA is a distinctive place of adorment for the belgian queen fabiola [1960-1993 in exalted position]. the queen souvenir collection, as well as the large patterned wallpaper and vintage furnishing gives this café an adorable quirky touch.

luzia pimpinella | reise antwerpen: café tipp fabiola| travel antwerp: coffee & snacks at fabiola

again we studied a travel guide we purchased before just around the corner at a book store. this book *the 500 hidden secrets of ANTWERP [also in english language] happened to be a real gem. i instantly wondered if we would ever make it for some additional day trips to brussels, bruges or gent. actually we didn’t! i must admit at that point i still underrated the potential of antwerp. this travel book helped me to get this in the right focus… as the city really has so much to offer. it’s totally worth reading!
well, after having coffee and croques [they also have cake!], we went on exploring. ah… the bill came in a vintage tin box displaying the royal couple… what else could it come in?

luzia pimpinella | reise antwerpen: fisch essen in der fiskebar | travel antwerp: eating out fish at fiskebar

when i asked for some antwerp tips here on the BLOG lately, the FISKEBAR was mentioned several times. for a good reason as i know now… the design fish restaurant is very cool and in an reduced skandinavian style [i love how the tiles go together with the wooden chairs!] and the fish is fresh to the max!

luzia pimpinella | reise antwerpen: fisch essen in der fiskebar | travel antwerp: eating out fish at fiskebar

the eatery is very popular and you better have a reservation, even on weekdays. there was this adorable young very young man at on the counter winking and flirting at luzie all the time. she was laughing so much that she hardly could concentrate on her fish dinner…

luzia pimpinella | reise antwerpen: restaurant tipp chez fred kloosterstraat | travel antwerp: eating out at chez fred kloosterstraat

on the day after we followed the advice of RICARDA [23qm stil] and had a reservation at CHEZ FRED. walking the neigborhood it became clear why ricarda loves the kloosterstraat so much, i’ll tell you later about that. making a reservation for this restaurant is a good idea. the small bar ist jam-packed with people and it’s a good place to “eat like locals”. you shouldn’t be irritated by the durex neon outside at the house though… ;)

the menue offers pasta, meat- and fish-dishes… unfortunaley my linguine alle vongole were a little lame. but the rest was quite good and in return i was able to add another word on my personal list of favorite dutch words after studying the menue. pijnboompitten! i really love this funny language!

if you walk the kloosterstraat all the way down and beyond, you will inevitably get to the WASBAR…it’s a cool combo of coffee bar and laundromat in pastel colors! a perfect place to stop by and have a break for a coffee and a snack.

mister P.’s cappuccino came with wee marshmallows in top, so cute. the shelves at the walls were made from vintage drawers and the awesome lampshades from colored wire hangers. we three were all enthusiastic about the interior wnd were thinking about some fall makeover at home.

luzia pimpinella | reise antwerpen: restaurant tipp - burgerij | travel antwerp: eating out at burgerij

i stumbled about the restaurant name BURGERIJ in some travel guide, yet i spotted it viewing from the gallery walk of the MAS! it’s an open secret that we love eating burgers, so its was perfectly clear that we had to have dinner at this place.

seriously… any more questions? the burgers were delicious!!! the restaurant is a good place to visit with children by the way. they have a seperated, vitrified playing area for kids. so you can sit at your table having an eye on your kiddos whithoud having all that noise around. mom and dad can enjoy a relaxed conversation, nice huh? not that we would need that anymore for our fräulein… but maybe it’s interesting for you and your toddlers!?
[BURGERIJ – sint-laureiskaai 8 | gegenüber des MAS – antwerpen]

luzia pimpinella | reise antwerpen: asia restaurant tipp - lucy chang | travel antwerp: eating out asian at lucy chang

the last evening [boo-hoo] we spent at LUCY CHANG dining spring rolls, dim sum and thai curry. i recommend a reservation for this restaurant. especially because the tables are placed very differnt… i really liked the tables on the ground floor, they had huge upholstered benches. i also liked the small tables on the upper, third floor beneath the windows with a great view on the marnixplaats.
[LUCY CHANG – marnixplaats 16 – antwerpen]
honestly, we could really have spent weeks eating our way through antwerp. but even the lovliest city trip is over at some point. like i often say… well, we probably have to come back again! i’ll soon tell you more about our sightseeing and what else we did in antwerp, besides eating. stay tuned…

dear folks, let’s just skip some of our destinations on our summer ROADTRIP and jump from TORONTO straight to MAINE. because this is the place where my big lobster love began and i want to tell you the story.
luzia pimpinella blog | travel tuesday |hummer essen in maine | eating lobsters in maine

fast wären wir auf unserer ziemlich langen fahrt von QUEBEC CITY in kanada nach BAR HARBOR an der neuenglischen küste der USA einfach an diesem schild vorbei gefahren. das wäre dann allerdings ein ganz großes pech gewesen, denn hier sollte sich eine meiner persönlich liebsten urlaubs-erinnerungen dieses sommers manifestieren… was mal wieder zeigt, dass über die schönsten momente des reisens oft die kleinen zufälle entscheiden.after a long trip from QUEBEC CITY in canada down to BAR HARBOR at the new england coast, we almost drove by this sign without noticing. that would have been a real bummer, because now the evening we spent there is one of my favorite vacation moments to remember… and that once again shows that sometimes the most loved travel memories happen by chance.

luzia pimpinella blog | travel tuesday | restaurant tipp: trenton lobster pound in maine | eating out: trenton lobster pound in maine

OK, so we almost rushed by here. we were tired from the long trip and we only had 15 miles to go to our BAR HARBOR hotel. but when i shouted out: “holymoly, look at this huuuuge smoker!”, it was clear that we had to have dinner at this place. mr. P. made a u-turn on the road and we ended up in lobster heaven.

the sun was shining, we were in a good mood and sat down outside on a bench. connor squat down at our table and introduced himself as being our server for that evening. then he explained all the combos on the menue to us. we went for pulled pork and a lobster as a combo for the mister and i. the little fräulein chose texas chili.

while we were waiting for our dinner, connor showed us the giant smoker that they had originally “imported” from texas. mr. P. was deeply impressed. maybe you know that he wants a smoker for himself and has already been researching the web for months. it surely won’t be a huge thingy like this. our backyard would be all filled up with it. but soon he’ll own a smaller one. i’m curious how this will all work out, because this will definitely be the mister’s place to cook at. ;) but i wander from the subject. right in that big smoker the were packages of meat roasting to be fine pulled pork many, many hours later. at that point we really couldn’t wait to get our dinner.

und dann war er irgendwann dran… MEIN lobster! wäre ich zu dem zeitpunkt schon hummerprofi gewesen [das sollte ich irgendwann am ende des urlaubs nach 2 wochen fast konstanter hummerdiät sein], dann hätte ich damals schon corn on the cob, also einen maiskolben mitbestellt. der wird nämlich normalerweise gleich zusammen mit dem lobster im netz gekocht und ist hummer hammerköstlich. aber man muss ja die details des hummeressens auch noch dazulernen können.and then it was time… for MY lobster! if i was a lobster pro by that time [i would certainly develop to be one after two weeks of a nearly constant lobster diet], i would have ordered corn on the cob with it. the corn usually is boiled together with the lobster and it’s damn yummy. but well, i had my time to practise the details of lobster-eating later.

ich hatte irgendwann schon einmal hummer. also irgendwann in einem anderen leben. ich weiß gar nicht mehr wann und wo, aber ich erinnere mich, er war mickrig klein und sauteuer und irgendwie nicht wirklich bedeutungsvoll. aber DIESER hier, mein erster maine lobster, war eine offenbarung!!! ein bisschen peinlich fand ich ja die plastik “bibs”, also die dazu gereichten lätzchen, schon, aber ich nahm trotzdem erst mal eins. ich wusste ja nicht, wie ich mit so einem kaventsmann klar komme. ich bin sehr froh, dass herr p. so fotografierfaul ist und ich nicht mit plastiklätzchen um den hals und einem dämlich seligen grienen im gesicht im bild festgehalten würde. die nächsten male sollte ich so einen latz dann auch nicht mehr brauchen. frau hat doch ganz schnell den kniff raus, wie es ohne spritzen und kleckern funktioniert und das sollte ja schließlich nicht mein letzter hummer gewesen sein.i have had a lobster many years ago. i don’t even remember when or where. but i remember that it was tiny and freakin’ expensive and somehow not memorable. but THIS guy, my first maine lobster, was devine!!! the plastic bibs that came along with it were quite embarrassing though, but i took one anyway. after all i didn’t know yet how to handle a huge whooper like this. i’m really glad that mr. P. is so lazy when it comes to taking snapshots. so there is no photo proof of me with that bib and a silly sappy smile on my face. the next time i shouldn’t need any ogf these, because i quickly fournd out how to crack and eat them without making a total mess.

i didn’t snap the blissful face of mr. P. either, while he was floating in pulled pork heaven. neither the grumpy glance of the little fräulein… not because she wasn’t happy with her texas chili, but because she disaproved the crustacean massacre on my plate. well, each woman to her own.
no need to tell that we came back for a second time on our last day in bar harbor. the food was too good to stay away.

und wenn ihr dann zufällig vorbeikommt, dann esst einen frau-pimpi-gedächtnis-hummer für mich hier:please note the reasonable bill for this delicious family dinner by the way. here in germany it would probably bring tears to your eyes to have a dinner like that, but in maine at some lobster shacks you can get a twin lobster [that means two lobsters on your plate] for 20 dollar. yes, i hear all you lobster lovers cry out loud. there’s only one thing to do… travel maine!

and if you do so and you accidentally stop by at this place, then please have a mrs. pimpi-memorial-lobster for me:

berlin & it’s embarras de richesses | for me, berlin is like an opulent menu. looking at the huge variety of possibilities, paralyzes me. all i can do is thinking: “oh my gosh, what shall i take?”. i’d love to have a tiny piece of everything, but that doesn’t work of course. it doesn’t work to squeeze everything in one and a half days of a berlin weekend-trip either. so you just can decide to come back again for more… and again… and again…
luzia pimpinella blog | travel | dachterrasse des hotel amano berlin mitte | rooftop bar of the hotel amano berlin mitte

at least we hadn’t had to wreck our brains ourselves to choose a hotel this time [another topic with countless choices], because i won the two overnight stays some time ago attending the brigitte kreativ contest with this PIMPED GLOBE. my price was sponsored by DAWANDA… thank you so much again, guys! especially to dorothea who arranged this stay for us and picked the gorgeous hotel.
luzia pimpinella blog | travel | sundowner auf der dachterrasse des hotel amano berlin | sundowner at the rooftop bar of the amano hotel berlin

we were all happy staying at the AMANO in berlin mitte! the drive took us five hours instead of three, because of several traffic jams. so we especially enjoyed the amazing rooftop bar and it’s cool view over berlin and onto the iconic television tower to have a sundowner when we finally arrived. our room [an M apartment, because we needed beds for three] was awesome too. you can have a tiny peep here and here on my instagram feed. the only thing was, that the mattress was to firm for me, but i’m a sissy, when it comes to sleeping underlayings.

on saturday morning at breakfast we studied all the tips YOU gave us here on the blog and over there on my facebook to find a place to eat for the evening. THANK YOU so much! these recommendations will serve many berlin weekend-trips.
we three really love asian food, so it was easy to make a choice with one consent. we went for the DISTRICT MOT and its’s vietnamese streed food. coincidentally it is located just around the corner of our hotel. so nice after a long day walking through berlin and having sore feet. we had a dinner meet-up with  matthew by the way. maybe you remember him
from his guestblogger SOMMERSTIPPVISITE here on the blog this summer.

we were totaly smitten by the atmosphere and all the lovely details of this place. plastic stools!!! exactly the ones you know, when you travelled to asia before. we almost fell off from these thingys several times laughing out loud. you know, matthew is a guy with a great sense of humor, he always makes you laugh!

the menu was brimful with yummy food… so here we end again with that embarras de richesses. finally i decided for the obvious, when it comes to vietnamese food [i told you, i am unable to cope with to may possibilities]… i took PHO! delicious. you really shouldn’t miss to stop by if you’re in berlin mitte. you will find DISTRICT MOT at rosenthaler straße 62. it wasn’t only a full belly that i took with me after this awesome dinner, but also the wish for travelling to asia again. we haven’t been there too long… another  easy consent of us three.

P.S. if you want to see more photos, please check jana’s blog [COOKIES FOR MY SOUL]! she has some more lovely pictures and even more information about this cool restaurant. THANKS again, jana, for this awesome tip!

travel tuesday | our eats and sleep in toronto

oh man… where to begin after a three week roadtrip through some canadian cities and along new englands coast? where to start with so many experiences and impressions and even more pictures? i’d love to show and tell everything at once. but it’s probably better to start with the beginning of our trip… in TORONTO. and with the essentials…. eat and sleep… and eat!

we had our very first canadian breakfast at the SENATOR diner… a recommendation of our lovely  apartment host brenna. so it’s not quite true that this place is only a tourist magnet, because also locals dine here. but it’s true that the restaurant is the oldest of whole toronto… and that the food there is very yummy.

the servings are sumptious, like you expect it in north america. you hardly handle them. the layers of french toast [with a pinch of cinnamon!] made the whole family happy. the huevos rancheros – served all day –  fill you up for half a day! the latte comes in huge mugs. a super friendly talk with the lovely waitress, who has relatives living here in germany in hamburg and augsburg, is on top and for free… als well as the coffee refill [something that the mister really loooves!]. awesome!

we had a very warm welcome by our lovely apartment host brenna. she provided us with local beer and apple juice in the fridge [as if she knew what we like!], which was so nice. she also prepared a little notebook with restaurant-, bar-, shopping- und sightseeing-tips, including a street map with matching marks, for her guests. we really appreciated that! there was a streetcar station right in front of the house, very convenient. one should be aware though, that staying that central at one of the main streets also means that it’s not all quiet at night. [dear house builders on the north american continent, when will you learn isolated windows? no offence.] well, we were pepareped to have some noise so it was all fine with us. the place was really cozy and so many nice things and neighborhoods were in walking distance…

although i started my research trip to the french atlantic coast and it’s beautiful POITOU CHARENTES region in LA ROCHELLE, i’d like to begin with the 2nd day of my journey. just because i really fell in love with this place… with the ILE DE RÉ

luzia pimpinella BLOG | poitou charentes | kurzreise an die französische atlantiküste : ile de ré | short trip to the french atlantic coast : ile de ré
something that made this trip very special for me was the fact that it was the very first time that i travelled all alone. usually i’m with my family, with friends or at least with other bloggers, but this time it was just me, myself & i. there were moments when i missed someone to share my impessions and enthusiasm with [that were the moments when i loved my INSTAGRAM even more!]. but there were also moments when i enjoyed it a lot to flow with my very own rhythm. being able to take my own time for taking pictures and not having to hurry, because someone was waiting for me at the next corner [so you better prepare for a flood of images today]. this voyage was quite a personal experience for me.
luzia pimpinella BLOG | travel | die maut-brücke vo la rochelle auf die ile de ré | the toll bridge from la rochelle to the ile de ré

the ILE DE RÉ

so two weeks ago on a saturday morning i rented a nice little, very blue car in la rochelle to start off to the pretty atlantic island ile de ré. you can reach it in 10 minutes by car by crossing a toll bridge. you can also drive by bike within 30 minutes [i think, the traverse for cyclists is free]. once i arrived some very maritime holiday feeling took hold of me.

luzia pimpinella BLOG | travel | ile de ré : standspaziergang in rivedoux plage | ile de ré : beach walk in rivedoux plage

i had to take a first stop a few kilometers from the bridge at RIVEDOUX PLAGE  to have a little walk at the beach and take a deep breath and snuffle lovely marine air. after a few steps at the beach i already found my first oyster shell! [a little nic-is-driving-a-rental-car anecdote along the way… when i parked the car i tried to unplug the ignition key as usual. no way. it didn’t move a nanometer. i didn’t want to call the car rental for help to reveal myself as a car driver dork or something, so i called mr. P. at home. he didn’t know an instant solution as well – a fact that eased me a lot – and quickly googled the answer. i had to push the key first and then pull it out. amazing but a somehow unneeded trick, if you ask me. ;)]

right beside the beach there was a local market. didn’t i tell you countless many times, that i really love local markets? i enjoy exploring all the booths and discovering food i don’t know, like these [slightly unattractive] vegetables on the left for example. i had to check my dictionary to find out what this was… it said these are some kind of [sugar?] beet. i wondered what they taste like.

of course they had an amazing variety of freshly caught fish. amongst others some living eels in a net. well, honestly eels are not my cup of tea… not here at home nor somwhere else in the world. but i thought that these PAUPIETTEs looked quite delicious.
after this lovely flying visit [except the car key part] i got back to my car and drove on to the place i was supposed to stay at SAINT MARTIN DE RÉ, which is the principal town of the island.

i check in the hotel LE GALION… a lovely, maritime place at central location [the habour is just a few steps around the corner] and a lovely view onto a lighthouse just in front of the door. beautiful. they do provide bicycles to borrow there and i got one for myself to explore the island. bicycles are the vehicle of choice on this island. it is 30 km long and only 5 km in width and it has around 100km of bikeways! i saw bike rentals everywhere, where they offer also bikes for children and even bike railers for the littlest.

against all expectations the weather meant it well with me. there were only very few moments when i was really glad to have my raincoat with me. the sky was mostly blue and white. it was too chilly for the season, but that really didn’t cloud my mood all nor the mood of the other vacationers. many of them were daringly wearing shorts. though the little clothes changing booths didn’t stand at the beach yet. i think it would have been really daring to go swimming at these temperatures.

i was biking along the lovely waterfront and through the small cobblestone paved alleys of the town. it was blooming verywhere and coloful flowers sprouted out of every chink in the walls. it was such a delight for my still winter-weary soul.

i stopped at the fortfield church, the CLOCHER de SAINT MARTIN DE RÉ and found out that you can climb up the tower. for wee 1,50 euros you get access to the very narrow staircase which is nothing for claustrophobic people. at the upper part it’s so narrow that they have to handle the staircase traffic with a traffic light. [by the way… i almost got a heart attack and scared stiff when the church bell was pulled just when i descended the stairs right beside it!]. but once you arrive at the top of the look-out you are rewarded with a breathtaking view over the roofs of the pretty town!

at some point around lunchtime i got very hungry. at the waterfront restaurants they had some yummy  looking, old-fashioned, black enamel cooking pots filled with blue mussels in various sauces. i really wanted a pot like that, but i wasn’t the only one. the tables were all taken and so i strolled the harbour area to pass some time. and somehow my lunch was supposed to be another one…

luzia pimpinella BLOG | travel | saint martin de ré : austern essen im restaurant "le tout du cru" | saint martin de ré : eating oysters at the bar "le tout du cru"

i walked through an archway to enter a courtyard where the very small cinema was located and came across an adorable oyster bistro… LE TOUT DU CRU
i think i was a teeanger when i tried the first and only oyster in my life until them. i must admit, i remembered it kinda snort like. but now that i saw some ladies sitting in front of this lovely oyster bar, slurping their mussels with pleasure, i was ready to give these guys another try. at least taste is changing as we’re getting older and this is definitely the place where you can get some really fresh oysters. so nothing ventured, nothing gained! the owner of the bistro was quite charming. he suggested to start with small ones [i thought exactly the same] and also a matching vine [for me clueless, passionate beer-drinker]. then he left me alone with these animals on the plate.
what can i  tell you? they were delicious… that first oyster i had many years ago didn’t count anymore! i was so pleased about this experience, about myself, about this adorable bar and it’s charming owner and about the bill as well… it was 10 euros. ridiculously low for something so lovely!

sea air makes you hungry! so i had to stop for a little snack at the harbour… churros [which are quite un-french but spanish, but never mind] with a delicacy: caramel sauce with FLEUR DE SEL. it’s wealth owes this island to the sea salt. in the village of LOIX at the ecomusee du marais salant you can still see how the salt farmers harvest their white gold. such a pity that i hadn’t got enough time to visit that place, too.

it’s an open secret that i have a soft spot for donkeys [and the little fräulein as well]. so maybe you can imagine how smitten i was by these guys. the L’ANES EN CULOTTE [the donkeys in pants]. in former times the donkeys transported the salt and other kinds of goods around the island. they were put on the pants to save them from biting insects. today they are only carrying giggling children on their back. i’ve never ever seen a cuter mascot for sure.

eating out | american breakfast

last friday some other bloggers and i were invited by MOTEL6 to an american breakfast at the MAMALICIOUS in hamburg’s schanzenviertel. as being a total roadtrip and USA fan i gladly came. actually it was a canadian breakfast, because the owner of the lovely diner is canadian. but howewer… it was amazing yummy and i once again felt sweet anticipation for our summer travel plans.
luzia pimpinella BLOG | MOTEL 6 blogger frühstück im mamalicious hamburg | MOTEL 6 blogger breakfast at the mamalicious in hamburg

the PR girls of MOTEL6 whipped up a great table decoration… the fabulous cookies alone were such an eye catcher! there was a USB-bus containing information material and a passport notebook. so cool! while we were enjoying all this we learned about the motel chain, it’s history, it’s philosophy and the room standards.

i must admitwe’ve had quite different experiences when it comes to motel-accomodations. some were very good and some were just bad and expensive, too {i remember a really lousy stay at a place in oakhusrt near the yosemite national park…}. so i absolutely appreciate if i can rely on modern design, clean rooms, comfortable facilities and a reasonable price, as they offer it at the MOTEL6. many motels have been revovated yet and the modernisation will be finished at every single one until 2014. they maybe we get the chance to check this out in summer and make our own experiences. would  be nice.

the breakfast we had was everything one could wish for… loads of yummy stuff with billions of calories. i guess i will have to come back with the whole family soon.

it was also nice to meet danny {COZY & CUDDLY} again. we haven’t seen each other since the BLOGST conference in november. unfortuanately i was a little short of time and time wnt by so fast. i had to to head for cologne that day…

the MOTEL6 just celebrated it’s 50th anniversary by the way, it started in santa barbara. i would have loved to see this original place. i’m such a fan of mid-century design! this is a picture of back then.

mamalicious in hamburg luzia pimpinella BLOG | motel 6 USA roadtrip app

i just downloaded their APP for our next trip. you can easily find the next motel near you and even make reservations. quite convinient! maybe we get to test this in summer. usually were not that spontaneous. we like to have everything booked in advance. but this could really avoid exhausting room hunting when you’re tired and hungry on the road… good thing. and what about you? do you prefer hotels or motels? do you book in advance or just be off without? how do you organize roadtrips?

however …  wherever you stay this weekenk,  i wish you a relaxing time! happy weekend!

TRAVEL

there are cities, where you you wish you had a few more days to stay than you planned for your travels. MÉRIDA in yucatán, mexico was a place like this for me. time went by too fast and we all wished we could have stayed a bit longer.

browsing through my photographs from mérida i realized that there are far too many impressions to squeeze them into just one posting. so i thought, i better don’t rush and take it slow when it comes to talk about my love for this city.

after all the mexicans don’t like to rush things either and they’re right. how many times do we feel like being hunted by el diablo, hurrying through our lives? … we should better stop for a siesta once in a while. for example here:

the café EL HOYO is a lovely place to take a break in mérida. the guests are mostly young people. they have very good latte and small, yummy snacks that aren’t small at all but bursting your plate. if you want to send a picture of your huge nutella waffles home you can do so as they do offer free wifi. there is a little pretty patio in the back to enjoy your meal or drink outside. i especially loved the adorable tiles…
have you been in mérida before? what was your favorite hang out place?

P.S. by the way… HERE you can find all my yucatán MEXICO travel photographs and reports published so far.

hamburg trip | you’ve got MEHL

although the MEHL (engl. flour) is quite new in the hamburg restaurant scene, it’s no insider tip anymore. no wonder, because if you’ve been there once you surely come back for more (like i did!) and you probably tell everyone. last thursday we came as a BLOGGERinvasion to hold our monthly meet-up there…

we took a walk at the ALSTER in the fog and saw on the sign what we’d see if we saw anything  while the seagulls were screaming.

we did some delicious shopping at the FRISCHEPARADIES (as of now we’ll have chili hair with everything!) and we stopped for some astra and fish in a roll at the SCHELLFISCHPOSTEN (a quirky original sailor pub).

we dropped by SANTA PAULI, the christmas market on the REEPERBAHN for some cruller and hot wine punch. we answered some quite awkward questions of the little one regarding the offered goods at some booths and we piled up with six people in a small photobooth! what a blast!

on my plate lately… warm shrimps and lentil salad by a recipe i found on BLISS. you gotta try it, it’s divine! just as awesome as the news for the globetrotter veggies among you. my dear blogger colleague JULIA STELZNER told me about her heartfelt project when we spent time together on a ZAGREB trip a few month ago…

TRAVEL

travel toscana | kleine pizzeria in lucca – großer geschmack

tiny pizzeria – big taste
having a pizza is a kinda saturday night classic, isn’t it? we had a pizza for dinner, too. but we also had countless amazing good pizzas (pizze… what ever the correct plural in english might be) on our ITALY trip this summer. in LUCCA we had some at a small pizzeria called PIZZA da FELICE, which is the oldest pizza place in town. wanna share a piece with us?

i really love tiny food places like this. they have such an own charme with their bistro tables and tiled walls. so don’t miss this one when you’re in LUCCA…

p.s. you also get CECINA there, which is an italian specialty… a kind of pancake made of chickpea flour.
