we strolled through the landmarked SPEICHERSTADT (which is hamburgs historical warehouse district) on saturday. i’m fascinated every time we walk there and i wonder, what it might have smelled like in former times when they stored spices from all over the world there.
heute findet man in der speicherstadt vornehmlich importeure und teppichhändler, schickilacki büros und agenturen und diverse museen, wie das GEWÜRZMUSEUM zum beispiel. außerdem findet man dort auch das mittlerweile berühmte MINIATUR WUNDERLAND, die größte modelleisenbahnanlage der welt… glaubt mir… man muss kein modellbahn-hobbyist sein, um von den landschaften, die dort von ein paar wirklich leidenschaftlichen leuten geschaffen wurden, total beeindruckt und begeistert zu sein.

nowadays can you find importers and carpet dealers, fancy agencies and several museums there, the GEWÜRZMUSEUM (spice museum) for example. moreover you can find some quite famous tourist and family destination… the MINIATUR WUNDERLAND! it’s the world’s largest model railroad layout and… believe me… you don’t have to be a model railroad hobbyist to be totally impressed by all the landscapes that were created by some passionate people.

das MINIATUR WUNDERLAND, das sind zur zeit 8 themenwelten… 930 züge… 215.000 figuren… 46 computer zur steuerung und viele zahlen im detail mehr. für mich war es vor allem ein erlebnis an detail-verliebtheit! überall gibt es etwas zu entdecken, etwas zu staunen und auch zu schmunzeln. deswegen zeige ich euch morgen noch ein paar bilder von szenen, die ich besonders mochte.
the MINIATUR WUNDERLAND in words and figures that are right now 8 theme-related landscapes… 930 trains… 215.000 small people figurines… 46 computers for controlling and much more data in detail. for me especially it is an amazing experience of detail-obsessed work. there are scenes to explore everywhere, to marvel at and to giggle about. i’d love to show you some more captures of scenes i liked a lot tomorrow.
