hollywood ist ein seltsamer ort. mehr schein als sein irgendwie. ich schätze mal, das ist genau das, was es so anziehend und zu einem echten must-see macht, wenn normalos wie unsereins nach LOS ANGELES reisen.
hollywood is a strange place. it feels like it is more hype like substance somehow. i guess that is exactely what it makes so intruiging for us and a must-see when you travel to LOS ANGELES.
natürlich wollte ich in L.A. so etwas obligatorisches und gleichzeitig irgendwie albernes tun, wie das HOLLYWOOD SIGN fotografieren. ganz dringend, ist doch klar! es gibt eine menge tipps, von welchen plätzen aus man die beste sicht auf das wahrzeichen hat. unser reiseführer führte uns zum 3000 canyon lake drive. man sollte am hundepark parken und dann zu fuß weitergehen. ganz ehrlich… ich bin bis heute nicht sicher, ob wir wirklich richtig gegangen sind. aber ich erinnere mich noch an die sportlichen dog walker, den ersten kolibri meines lebens und das auto, das glatt hätte inspektor columbo gehört haben könnte, wenn es denn hellblau gewesen wäre.
being in L.A. i surely wanted to do something madatory and silly at the same time… i wanted to shoot the HOLLYWOOD SIGN, of course! i wanted it badly! there are many tips about the best places to view the landmark sign. our travel guide lead us to 3000 canyon lake drive. we should park our car at the dogs playground and walk the rest it said. honestly… i still don’t know if we even walked the right way. but i remember the sporty dog walkers, the first kolibri i ever saw and the car that could have belong to inspector columbo if it was light blue.
also, vom weg den berg hinauf habe ich keine fotos. ich hatte keine zeit zu fotografieren, weil ich eigentlich die ganze zeit am fluchen war, dass es so unglaublich typisch hildebrandt-isch dämlich wäre, in der sengenden mittagshitze einen berg hochzukraxeln, nur um fotos von ein paar doofen, weißen buchstaben zu machen. fragt auch besser nicht nach dem konstanten [wenn auch berechtigten] genöle des kleinen fräuleins. ich wollte ein paar mal umdrehen und zum auto zurück gehen, aber herr P. brachte uns dazu, noch bis zur nächsten ecke zu gehen, um wenigstens zu schauen… und zur nächsten… und zur nächsten…
well, i haven’t any shots from our way up the hill. i was to busy cursing that it was so very typical hildebrandt-ish to run up a mountain in the blazing heat of noon, just to photograph some stupid white letters. and you better don’t ask for the contant [actually entitled] nagging of the little fräulein. i was about to turn and go back to the car several times, but mr. P. kept us walking to the next corner to have a look… and the next… and the next…
… und dann nach einer der ecken standen wir dann mittelndrin in einem film-set. haufenweise hochbeschäftigte menschen, kameras, technisches equipment eine leiche und so’n kram. ups! wir wollten uns schon dezent wieder verdrücken, als eine nette dame in gelbem t-shirt auf uns zukam und fragte, ob sie uns helfen könnte. wir erzählten ihr vom hollywood sign und sie zeigte und den weg [es waren nur nuch ein paar meter]. wir marschierten mitten durch das set von THE CLOSER und sie lud uns ein, doch eine weile zu bleiben, wenn wir mochten.
… and then we stood right in midst of a film set! lots of busy people, kameras, technical equipment, a dead body and stuff. oops! we wanted to back out off this place discretely when a lady in a yellow tee came towards us and asked if she could help. we told her about our search for the hollywood sign and she showed us the way [it was only a few more meters to go]. we walked right through the set of THE CLOSER and she kindly invited us to stay a little.
KYRA SEDGWICK aka brenda leigh johnson sahen wir nur aus der ferne, mitten im dreh einer szene. aber uns wurde noch eine höhle gezeigt, die vor vielen jahren von menschenhand geschaffen wurde, um als BATMANs höhle zu dienen… dort kam in den 60ern regelmäßig das batmobil herausgefahren. sehr lustig!
we only saw KYRA SEDGWICK aka brenda leigh johnson from afar shooting a crime scene take and retakes. but we were shown a cave nearby which was drilled by men many years ago… to serve as BATMAN’S cave, where the batmobile came out in the 60s. so funny!
nun ja… und elsechen durfte natürlich noch vor dem hollywood sign posen! dafür waren wir ja schließlich gekommen, nicht wahr?
well, and of course our eselchen [= little donkey] posed in front of the hollywood sign that day. after all that was what we came for, right?
natürlich zog es uns an diesem tag auch noch in das herz von hollywood. herr P. und ich hatten das GRAUMAN’S CHINESE THEATRE, den HOLLYWOOD BOULEVARD mit seinen sternen und das EL CAPITAN THEATRE zwar schon vor vielen jahren gesehen, aber das kleine fräulein noch nicht. letzte mal, war elvis auch nicht da… was für ein glück wir doch hatten! ;)
we also went to see the heart of hollywood that day. mr. P. and i did see the GRAUMAN’S CHINESE THEATRE, the HOLLYWOOD BOULEVARD mit seinen sternen and the EL CAPITAN THEATRE before, but the little fräulein didn’t see it yet. and actually the last time elvis wasn’t there… lucky us! ;)
für luzie war es tatsächlich etwas ganz besonderes, denn ihre HARRY POTTER idole emma watson, daniel radcliff und rupert grint hatten sich gerade mit hand- und fußabdrücken im beton verewigt. naja, und ich…. ich traf auch ein idol meiner kindheit…
to see it all was really special for luzie. her idols from the HARRY POTTER movies, emma watson, daniel radcliff and rupert grint had just immortalized their hand- and foot-prints. well, and i meet an idol of my childhood, too…
